The Port and Stilton Diving Club was formed in 1996 when a group of friends started to dive and holiday together away from the maddening croweds.
Having all trained with a local BSAC Club from 1985/6 we decided that we would like to do some diving based more on what we wanted to dive and not a large diving club.
There are of course advantages and disadvantages of diving in a small group compared to a large diving club, but the main aim was to enable us to dive what we wanted more often with the limited amount of time avalible to us all when we had youg families and so with the aid of our first boat the tide was set so to speack.
The first club boat was Splish Splash. This was a 4.8meter Ribcraft named Splish Splash that served the small group until 2003 when the club/group numbers grew and a BIGGER boat was needed.
The second club boat SweetChariot. She is a 5.8 meter Ribcraft that was a flat packed form. The club took possession of her in 2003 This was dualy fitted out with a Suzuki DF140 four stroke. It was put into service that year and has been the transport to many a great dive.
She will carry upto 8 people and is ver comfortable with 6 divers with a crusing speed of around 20knots
